The new series starts Monday and will be screened over the week.
I've seen the preview on the TV and it looks good.
They have also had a couple of radio dramas broadcast.

Queer...I can smell it!
Yeah that was funny.
There was some interesting stuff on day three, the fact that no leader wanted to speak to the aliens in case of a fuck up and how it would damage their political careers, so they sent in the midlevel civil service guy. The fact that they aliens want 10% of the worlds kids.

Damn, that was a good way to end the series, from the looks of it, all that talk of a forth series was a smoke screen to hid the ending, there was even a couple of rumours online about the Doctor turning up to same the day.
So farwell then Torchwood the three series you had were for the most part very good.

I want more TORCHWOOD- a full season for next year, and hopefully they will plan 2-3 of these mini-events with the good captain!

IMO, I think that The Children Of Earth will be the last Torchwood as there is only Jack and Gwen left alive and Jack has gone crusing the galaxy so the only active Torchwood member is Gwen, Captain Jack is most likely to turn up next in Doctor Who, where he can get a hug and a shoulder to cry on.

My understanding is they will do more- based on the smash ratings!
So a new TORCHWOOD team is on the horizon guys.
Remember the mantra: EVERYTHING CHANGES!

Myles delivers a child in November, and barroman is booked up ontil Feb10.
There will be no filming with them for a long while.
RTD is going to be stateside working on a DW feature film project in the near term as well.
I think it will be back, but it will be longer than fans will like.

Didn't the Doctor Who movie from 1996 teach them anything. that is a terrible idea, the last movie pandered to much to the American suits, wrecking the story in the process.

Yes, but the 1996 film was an American-British co-venture. My thinking is the feature film with supposedly Tennant as The Doctor will be strictly a British film!

IMO the only way there will be any more Torchwood onscreen will be a special or part of Doctor Who as the last series ended Torchwood really well.
Although there is still the missing Torchwood station and Torchwood Glasgow which could make for a special or two.

Bah.
The story wasn't wrecked by anything but the writers.
However, having to censor scenes with gunfire for the squamish UK audience did fuck the story up a bit, if yopu watch the edited version.
But overall, UK science fiction is better than what Hollywood churns out.
Except for Firefly.
And Star Trek.
maybe Stargate.
In other words, all of the US sf tht doesn't suck.

Personally,I think the 8th Doctor TV movie was massively underrated. I thought it was great.

When the tv movie came out it was nice to see Doctor Who on the tv again, but because it was a part American film there was some plot points which didn't really jibe with the rest of the series, the 8th doctor is part of the DW cannon, its just that most of what was said in the movie has been dismissed by the new series and the 8th doctor books and audio adventures.

To complicate things, RTD made Tennant/Who fully human with some strange apparatus that we see for the first time in the TARDIS. Anyway, it was an ineffective strategy as the aliens tracked The Doctor down in his human form by the end of the first part. I think this was RTD's way of saying that The Doctor has some kinship with the human race as part of The Time Lords' DNA can match that of humans.
I don't like this particular aspect of the Time Lords' history as they have never worked it out fully, but I do not dismiss it either. It's just one of those things that requires a strong explanatory episode.

After seeing the finale of CHILDREN OF EARTH and THE EXTENDED INSIDER'S LOOK, I am firmly convinced they will do anotrher season of TORCHWOOD.
It averaged approximately 6 million viewers, which is a great rating for BBC1.
RTD on THE EXTENDED LOOK all but confirmed that if the BBC wanted a 4th Season, he was ready to go! And Gwen said it would be a shame if they did not do another season, and that she was up for it too!
Yeah!
KR
P.S. This was an awesome miniseries, and much more believable than INDEPENDENCE DAY. The Brits can build drama. Us Americans go for the heavy action and the much thinner plot to sci-fi movies and shows.

Loved it, but terribly heartbreaking for a few reasons.
