Lonesome Dove
is obviously the best TV Western of all time.
Movies, though...
Unforgiven
Tombstone
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
Crap Westerns:
Posse
Bad Girls
American Outlaws

Creepiest and Sickest Western of All Time:
Once Upon a Time in the West
A great movie, but whoever thought that up was deeply disturbed.

Tombstone "re-invented the genre" and is the only western anyone needs to ever see, henceforth in perpetuity throughout the cosmos.

LOL nope not a John Wayne fan but it isn't for that reason that I like the movie. I just loved the whole story.

But
The Searchers

But how would one know that it re-invented the genre if they don't watch the movies that came before and after it?
