Lately I've been listening to nothing but Corelli.

For Master and Commander fans, this will sound familiar.
HeroineOfCanton
Sticking with the string Baroque thing:

Bach Violin Sonata 1/1
HeroineOfCanton
Actually, 1/2 is cooler. The double stops at teh awesome.
HeroineOfCanton
My favorite movement from Mozart's "Turkish" Violin Concerto.
HeroineOfCanton
Dvorak Slavic Dance 2 Op. 72
Angelus80
This is probably one of my favorites, though the one I have on my iPod is of Yo-Yo Ma. Suite for Solo Cello No. 1--Bach
Angelus80
And this one, I absolutely love it. Moonlight Sonata

ETA: I may go through, one by one, and try to find a sample of each of the pieces I have on my classical playlist. Hero, you may have to remind me biggrin.gif
Angelus80
Bach: Brandenburg concerto No. 3
Angelus80
One more, then I've got to stop for the day.

Bach: Toccata and Fugue in D minor
DarthMarley
So do you favor traditional instruments and tuning or Concert 440?

You seem to be remembering just fine on your own. wink.gif

I'm fine with 440 as a listener. Back when I was singing, pre-440 music felt better to sing (if that makes sense to non-singers) a halfstep down.

How's this for the classics?

Bach: Wachet Auf, Ruf Uns Die Stimme, BWV 645

Yeah, me either. But don't get me wrong. I have fond memories of waking up to AC/DC or Def Leppard on Saturday mornings when I was younger. Also, my parents have always had me listening to the music they grew up on. Which I think is great because so many people my age have no idea who these people are.

For the record, I hate the Rolling Stones, and definitely put them in the "suck" category.

Bizet- Les Toreadors Carmen Suite 1

I love all of Carmen, but this one was easier to find. LOL

I always stayed awake singing it. And Mr. Hero assures me he stayed awake playing it on the violin.

Speaking of which, an old favorite of everyone, except Wolfe apparently:

Angelus,
I'm almost done listening to all the stuff you posted today. (Stupid no audio or video at work.) Classical music is such a crap shoot on YouTube. Like the Beethoven 5 is a solid recording, but I'm seriously wondering where some of those Bach organist were dug up. laugh.gif

I know it's ironic, but Bach sounds waaaaaaay better on piano than he does on organ.

These dudes, however, did sound great with an organ:

As Craig Ferguson might say, it's such a farty instrument.

Wacky memory from grad school.

There were some folks I hung out with, and they asked me to bring some of my classical music CDs to a party. I never thought the big hit of the night was going to be Rachmaninov Vespers, but about 5 people ended up burning my CD that week.

Anyhow, some thoughtful soul at YouTube has a great recording altogether on one playlist

Sample:

Hail Mary (I've sung this one a couple times over the years, sadly always in Latin, not Russian sad.gif)

Yeah, I've had a time finding some of the ones in my playlist there, but hopefully most will be there. Or if not, I can post the title and you can try on your own.

I dig Lenny's version, too, but it's more of an anthem. The Guess Who's version was straight-up rock 'n roll.

Not the best recording of this aria, but that's Youtube.
