This looks like it's going to be good. Thank God James Cameron is back at the helm. After the third one, the talk of future sequels sounded dumb, but this one look like they got back on track

buffyverseforever
I'm really looking forward to this.....

Best wishes,

Scott

Who told you James Cameron is involved? He's not.
MikeTheC
Meh. The trailer for the last one gave a fairly false impression. The only way I'm spending *any* money to see this is if it's really, really, really awesome.

Yes, he is...lol

Why is he writing characters then, if he isn't involved?

He's not. He already wrote them. As the creator of those characters, he will receive writing credit for John and Sarah Connor, as well as Arnold's Terminator and the T-1000, until the end of time. In fact, he probably received those same credits for T3 and the television series.

But he's not involved with the new film.

I hope so. But with McG as director, I'm not holding my breath.

personally i'm fed up with the whole series. although the tv show seems interesting

Here's a fun (and really long!) amateur short blending Terminator and Robocop (with a cameo appearance by another movie heavyweight):

Apologies to any who have seen this, or something like it.

Yeah, I'm trying to enjoy it, but I can't get it out of my head that its entire premise is based on a monstrous plot hole. Ugh.

Thanks for posting this! I'll be sure to see it. Nobody has told the story from a grown up John's POV smile.gif

Both Charlie's Angels movies = genre-bending crap.
We Are Marshall = by-the-numbers crap.

The only thing he's done well is Chuck, and that's less him and more show staff.

Maybe the new Terminator movie will rock, but if we have to go solely off of resume, I'm not holding out too much hope. Still, I'll wait to see it before I render final judgment. That Christian Bale agreed to do it is a good sign. I just won't be too horribly surprised if it stinks.

So... movie reviews, anyone?

So... movie reviews, anyone?

I waited 25 years for this flick, since I always wanted more of the resistance-era stuff.

It was a decent action flick, though a little heavy on the junkyard chase scenes. The plot was predictably generic, and the acting ranged from pretty good (supporting cast) to scenery-chewing emo (Christian Bale). Bale came across as a taller Tom Cruise, actually. I think he has fallen into the trap of being a one-note. He could benefit from learning that Batman was his role in the other movies.

Anyway, it was worth watching once, but lacked the heart or intelligence of the first couple of movies in the series. I could've done with more of how the humans survived (including how Skynet couldn't pick out human encampments by the ubiquitous fires they would set out in the open), but the ending was the biggest, lame-ass letdown. The whole movie was a setup for a "terminators can have a heart, too" message, driven home with an unbelievably stupid bit of medical BS which should have meant the end of the series, as far as John Connor as an action hero goes.

Three stars out of five, but I don't know if I could ever be persuaded to watch it again. ='[.]'=

I'm going to watch it later tonight. I'm a pretty big Terminator fan, so it's going to have to be very bad for me to not enjoy it.

Ray, I agree with your Bale assessment.

Oh, I imagine you'll find plenty to enjoy. It's just that the whole "John Connor as savior" routine has sort of driven the franchise down a very narrow corridor, and the best scenes were those without him in them. ='[.]'=

Which is kind of why I wish the series had gotten a third season because the setup was there for dual threaded stories involving what the hell Sarah Connor would do without John and what John would do in a future that doesn't know him at all and he's not a hero.

*edit: Weird, I don't recall putting that dragon smiley in my reply, but now that it's there and random I rather like it.

I liked it enough. I'd watch it again but not in a theater.

The medical bs at the end and the terminator thing bugged me too as Ray said. But I chose to suspend belief. lol By that point though I would have rather have lost John and kept the Terminator!

I'd have preferred more about the Terminator/human he was the most interesting character in the movie to me and had way better chemistry with the girl who liked him than John Connor and his girl.

I too would have preferred more about how they got to that situation.

It wasn't clear to me how it is that he was smarter than anyone else and therefor worthy of leadership. Especially since this movie explored how John came to be the leader.

The whole send in the planes/helicopters thing seemed really implausible to me. Especially since they kept getting blown up. I kept wondering where they got the fuel from and stuff llke that.
