I don't know how many folks reading this ever watched Speed Racer, a '60s era English-dubbed Japanese cartoon about a race car driver who drove in some really killer races, but, the Wachowski brothers (of The Matrix fame) are bringing an action-packed, high-speed, live-action version to the big screen. I have to admit, this looks like a great "disengage brain, engage adrenal glands" kinda popcorn muncher, full of flash and thunder.

And, for those of us who remember Speed and the rest of the Racer clan, full of nostalgia, as well.

I can hardly wait.

When UHF broadcast television first came to my hometown in the 70s, Speed Racer and Starblazers were among the shows it brought to me.

No offense and not trying to start any trouble, but boy did I loathe this cartoon. It was the most intellectually devoid thing on tv until Jerry Springer.

The movies effects look shiny, but the acting and writing look horrid.

I will die before I see this movie...or be too drunk to stand.
