Here is one for you geeks that think country music is always bad:

In 1981 I threw a dead bat at Ozzy.
He is a pussy.

What about love? It's defective - it's always breaking in half What about sex? It's defective - it's never built to really last What about your family? It's defective - all the batteries are shot What about your friends? They're defective - all the parts are out of stock What about hope? It's defective - it's corroded and decayed What about faith? It's defective - it's tattered and it's frayed What about your Gods? They're defective - They forgot the warranty What about your town? It's defective - it's a dead end street to me What about your school? It's defective - it's a pack of useless lies What about your work? It's defective - it's a crock and then you die What about your childhood? It's defective - it's dead and buried in the past What about your future? It's defective - and you can shove it up your ass!
Life is a lemon and I want my money back.

I'm inclined to agree with SGK, Darth. It's not that country music is inherently bad (taste is always subjective) but simply that I don't care for it. What I did listen to struck me as typical of the genre. That said, I'll refrain from posting up any guttermouth or refused here.

Whiskeytown owns!
And Neil Young and Grateful Dead are country.

"I have travelled across the universe to find her. Sometimes going all the way is just a start."
More Meat Loaf! Bring on the sex and drums and rock 'n' roll.
"It's all coming back to me now." I prefer this Meat Loaf duet over Celine Dion. Sorry, Celine...
And you have the audacity to call ME a smelly hippie?
I hate the Dead more than I hate NASCAR. And that's just a whole bunch.
I hate NASCAR soooo much. It's so dumb. Even the people that watch it realize it's dumb, yet they still watch it.

You probably favor taxation of beer!
There already is taxation on it and there always will be no matter where you go.

The freaky part is, THIS just woke me up from a nap by getting stuck in my head and I'm not totally sure I've ever heard it before.
Hopefully it just means I'm a cylon although I'd seriously contest the engineering competence of Greystone Industries if that was the case.

If you want country...I could prolly give you REAL country! However, I like John Mayer (I don't care if you don't), Evanescense, Blue Oyster Cult, and a host of other types of music. Not all music is good...and everyone has different tastes.

Hokay... any body here listen to Jazz???
I like some new age... but I like to be able to tell if I've heard it before somewhere besides an elevator. I lean toward brass... I love an alto sax... and I don't mind a soprano, but I am not a Kenny G fan. My Preference is Richard Eliott or Keiko Mastui.
Hmmm ... I like the DVD's of the Rippingtons... in concert, I think they just play for themselves. Al DiMeola was great... but an arogant sod, so I listen to his recordings.
Weather Report... Whoa! Tower of Power... Jazz + Funk I'm old. I confess!

John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Dave Brubeck. In small quantities.
Mostly new wave, punk, industrial and various forms of hard rock.
But I've been known to listen to Jimmy Buffet (some of it, anyway) and Gordon Lightfoot as well.
So it's not like I have any kind of recognizable taste to begin with.

I adore Brubeck... not such a fan of Coltrane... Monk... now y'er talkin!!! Man could make a melody...

Indeed. And if you're a saxophone enthusiast, it'd stand to reason -- I listen to Coltrane and I just think "Hey, that sounds just like the soundtrack to a Peanuts special", but then I'd hardly consider my tastes to be especially refined. My taste in jazz is really limited to "what ain't got no singin'", because that ruins it for me.
Otherwise, it's just that it isn't the continuous onslaught of classic rock, college alternative crap I've never heard before, or pop/R&B (I like old-school gangsta rap just fine, but how that crap got to be R&B eludes me).
So I listen to NPR and when that's not on, Pacific Lutheran University's jazz programs.
I think it's just that I can't stand radio music.

I like instrumental jazz. Not a fan of vocal jazz...scat jazz drives me nuts by it's repetitiveness....as long as I hear words and no nonsense, I think I'd be okay. Just something in me that say that.
My thing lately has been the blues....BB King, Etta James...etc. There is just something there that makes me think that no matter how bad things get, they had it worse. The pain in their voices just gives me the chills.I just can't explain it.

Blues is nice!!! Lately our local Jazz station is playing the same old stuff... and not even mixing it up.
I've got on Seal right now... and he's more bluesey than you might imagine... Tho if you're avoiding vocals... maybe not the first choice. He does a very nice disc. Bouncey, pensive, wail, moan... chill... I like 'im.
Come to town, got Pistol on my mind. One more Bulletproof Sister, all I find.

I am so sorry to inflict this upon you: I bring "Banned from Argo", the addictive Star Trek filk. Torchwood style. If you haven't seen season one, and plan to, don't click it. It has spoilers - or at least clips - from season one of Torchwood and season one of Doctor Who. If you happen upon it elsewhere, where it is the full version, you might wanna get your hands on it. It is, however, slightly insanely addicting.
