Seriously where are the threads on video games in here?!?!
Anyways, I just thought this would be a nice place to discuss your favourite video games. (any console)
Since I'm a PC h0r I'll be listing PC games.
Portal
Half Life 2
Call of Duty series(excluding 2 and 3 because they were either crap or I never had them)
FEAR
Unreal Tournament series
Starcraft
Empire Earth
Audiosurf
DDR
The Sims
Quake 3
and I could go on
I also decided randomly that there should be a poll on consoles.

Fuel the console war!

You like gory games don't you?
Can you play rock band without friends?
It just seemed like a game that's more for parties, which I don't have.

Yes, you can play rock band solo.
And you'll never nail down the console issue -- Colecovision and Intellivision both belong on that list, and there are others, like the Odyssey and, of course, the Atari VCS that might belong as well, even if Coleco and Intellivison outperformed them.
Some others that belong on that list:
Doom
Populous
Sim City
Pirates
The Leather Goddesses of Phobos
Earth Orbit Stations
Loderunner
No, wait. If I do this, I'll be here all day...

Exactly why I stopped.
Doom is awesome.
Sim City, well ehhhhh I didn't like the lack of a reality factor.
Tornadoes seemed to hit anywhere.

For back in the day stuff, I played the original Castle Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, Super Mario Kart, Mario, etc.
I love zombie stuff too, just never had a zombie game out for PC. I used to play a zombie mod on Call of Duty, but the servers seem pretty empty now, which is a tragic shame.
I love gore too. I played Soldier of Fortune 2, which was always a needlessly gory game.

I would have to say that Starcraft would be the best game out there. Look how old it is, and you can still play it online.

Even in the days of arcade games, I would pick one game and stick with it.
I could put a quarter in Gauntlet and play until I got sick of it.
The PC give us Mame and SNES emulation packages.
I can play Elevator Action on my PC. How cool is that?
Max Bell
Feb 27 2008, 05:06 AM
Bosconian. And Star Castle.
Beyond that, I kind of stopped caring.
It's a damned shame about the arcades.
I can't remember the last time I saw a stand-alone that looked like it would be worth playing.

Yes, but the thought of all those old arcade games putting out all that entertainment value on an old Z-80 running at maybe 2 MHz.
That is amazing.

PC games are awesome but...
I are a console geek now. :sadthatnobodylikesconsolesface:
On pc it was all about UT2k4. Awesome game and many, many hours of my life gone because of it. And I do not regret one second!
Also love The Sims2.
BUT...
Xbox360 and GOW, COD4, NFSCarbon, Forza2...good times!
And now the PS3. We actually got a PS3 because we wanted a blu ray player and figures if we're going to spend that much on something that plays movies, why not make sure it plays games too. I love the PS3. We haven't had any issues with it at all, unlike the 360 which had to be sent away for a month due to the red lights of death. Microshaft Nazis and all that.
On PS3 we've been playing a racing game and Star Wars Legos. Waiting patiently on Army of Two...
I heart video games and gamers! :)

True, and I hope that the Wii leads to a renewed interest in developing games based on hardware hacking and not just licensed product tie-ins.
After spending a fruitless evening attempting to learn to use aftertouch in "Heavenly Sword", for example, I was greatly pleased to discover that the secret was in the pitch/roll of the actual controller.
Though sophisticated by several orders of magnitude greater, I couldn't help but reflect that I'd been impressed by the modern-day equivalent of a Starbird.

Anyone who ever disassembled such a thing knew that it's sound effects were controlled by a steel bearing inside a clear plastic box containing contacts on the inside of each face.
Whoops. Suddenly I have the urge to go take my controller apart.
They say a little nostalgia is a dangerous thing. But I actually succeeded in reassembling the starbird without damaging it.
Probably couldn't say that of a PS/3 controller.

Well I probably would agree, but I haven't played BF2142.
But the options of vehicles alone makes it somewhat better.
I'm sad. I won't ever be able to play Crysis with my Desktop.
I have an AGP motherboard(no I'm not replacing that TOO) and even the graphics card I just bought can't run it.
That game is such a hog.
Good news is, COD4 will run without lag, FEAR should finally not lag(it probably doesn't lag now I've never actually tried it), Bioshock will be better playable, and the new Unreal Tournament will be able to be played. Maybe I'll actually buy it then.

There is no point in upgrading besides buying a whole new computer.
I'd need a more powerful processor a 1gb(or dual 512mb) graphics card(EXPENSIVE MUCH)
I'd need a PCI Express motherboard.
I'd need a Soundblaster XFI(which I'm getting anyways)
With how much that costs and how close it's getting to Summer when I'll be buying a laptop that can handle the game and has all of that in it...there's no point.

I put a DS on my wishlist just so I can play Brain Age and Flash Focus......and probably a Pokemon game or 2.

Studies have shown that those Brain Age and Flash Focus games really do help so I think that would be beneficial and pretty fun. :)

You just use the 1 button to pull out your knife and click the mouse button when you get close and their dogtags appear on your screen. ADD me to your friends list and I'll take yours to show you how.
