Welll... T-bug, I read the first chapter online........ very interesting.
Gotta go get it now.
I picked up Hamiliton's latest (for me) paperback... finished it last night-- and the teaser for the next installment. Have you read it???

Spoiler Alert!!!

I was stunned that Richard seems to have 'backed out' of the triumverate... ok, really, it is just that he and Anita are no longer an item... or a possibility. His loss, obviously, and with everything else, he can't get over her real needs??? That is one seriously hung up dude.
How will that effect the power of the triumverate in the long run??? Nice twist at the end... and now I have to go back and read the first one cuz I don't remember the death of the old Master of the City... I mean, I do, and I don't. I want it fresh, and comparisons...etc.

Now we know why Mommie dearest is interested in Anita... and it also explains Jean-Claude's fascination... but why aren't more vamps trying to ice her??? Actively, I mean.Do the marks make her less dangerous to vamp kind... or more, in the long run?

Ray-- I did the survey. Do we know if there is a DVD set available yet? I cannot watch on line. I tried.
Filters... something. Who knows? Can't watch FOX at all, or CBS hardly (screen freezes)
Raycheetah
Sorry you couldn't watch the eps, Ms. Singer.

You can currently order a region 2 DVD, but, we're still waiting for a region 1 release. There are ways around that, of course...

-Raycheetah =^[.]^=

herbsinger42
Region 1??? Region 2???
Is that like one side or the other of the 'pond'???
Raycheetah
US and Canada (that I know of) is region 1; region 2 (the current release edition) includes the UK and, if I'm not mistaken, Japan. Regular DVD players are encoded for only one region, gorram purplebellies... But, you may be able to play a "foreign" DVD on a computer, though I have heard dire stories about what might happen if you do, so, check on that. You can also get a "region-free" DVD player surprisingly cheaply (the word "cheap," as always, being understood to be relative to one's budget, but, under $100US).

You can also buy Blood Ties on iTunes (yeah, I know... But, it's an option, for those who have the means to exploit it).

Great show, though!

Fresh news on the Johnny Depp Dark Shadows movie project:

http://www.mediabistro.com/fishbowlny/lunc...rimer_83683.asp

"...I was joined at the bar by my long time pal Kathryn Leigh Scott who was in town from Los Angeles on her way to London. Kathryn and I met back when I doing a piece for TV Guide about NBC's short-lived nighttime version of the ABC daytime cult classic Dark Shadows created by the late, great Dan Curtis back in the (gasp!) late sixties. I might be dating myself a bit, but I was totally obsessed with the show — and its lead actress, none other than Kathryn — when I was an impressionable youngster who rushed home every day from school to watch the gothic soap that introduced vampires and werewolves and other creatures that went bump in the night to a generation of fans.

These days the absolutely ageless Kathryn, having sold her incredibly successful imprint Pomegranate Press which published countless tomes on Dark Shadows and other pop cultural touchstones, is concentrating her considerable talents on writing fiction. Her first novel, Murder in Primetime, was a hit and now she's hard at work on her next thriller. But Dark Shadows remains a big part of her busy life. Tomorrow she departs for the UK to do three new recordings of new material based on the show for Big Picture. The project is timed to DS's 40th (!) anniversary.

Kathryn has also sent none other than Johnny Depp the complete collection of her DS books as primer for him to study as he prepares to sink his teeth into the role of vampire Barnabas Collins for the feature film version of the show. Turns out Johnny is a long time fan — something Kathryn first discovered when she worked with the Oscar nominee on 21 Jump Street back in his teen idol days. "To have everything come full circle and see Johnny do this is marvelous!" We can't wait!"

Johnny is finally prepping for the Dark Shadows film project!

More news as it becomes available...

Here's some bad news about Blood Ties... I have yet to get an absolute confirmation, but, Veronica Cure has been at the forefront of the renewal campaign, not to mention the fact that she waited for internal confirmation from LT before making this report:

" Lifetime Sucks! Blood Ties Rocks!!!
This week I made my usual calls to Lifetime. Things were the same at the New York office, leave a message, but the LA office had some news. The person I talked to said that Blood Ties was not coming back to Lifetime, that they had no plans to show any future seasons of Blood Ties. To say that I was shocked is an understatement. I called one of my friends and asked them to call also to confirm it. It took a couple days to get a confirmation from both offices, but we finally got the calls back. Lifetime is done with Blood Ties.
Lifetime said that they would be sending out emails with the bad news this week. Even though it might make us feel better to call them, or send angry emails or postcards, lifetime said it would not help. Each of us is going to have to decide how best to use our time, energy, and money.
So where does that leave the fans? The way I see it, we now have to concentrate on getting another network to pick it up. The best info we have is that the production company that owns the rights to the show, is still working on finding a network to air Blood Ties in the US . So let’s help them out.
Right now there are 3 big ways that we can help to get the attention of TV networks.
1. Place an ad in a big trade publication (like oh, I don’t know, maybe Variety?) Since there is already a campaign underway to do this, let’s help them out. Go to http://www.geocities.com/bloodties_henryfitzroy/index.html or directly to www.paypal.com and send money to bloodties_henryfitzroy@yahoo.com . There is a deadline of May 15th on this, so please go sooner rather than later.
2. Contact the other networks directly. You can find their contact info @ http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/savebloodties/
3. Blood Ties Fans Recycle for Sight http://btfgb.wordpress.com/
I know that many of us were counting on Lifetime to step up and not lose this valuable show. Unfortunately it looks like they could not see the gem that they had. So let’s help the other networks out there see what they are missing.
This is not the end of Blood Ties. We are stronger, smarter, and braver than anyone has given has given credit for. We will not give up this easily. We ain’t dead yet.Posted by Veronica_Cure May 09, 2008 9:06 am"

The ship may have already sailed on Bloodties, but good luck with the campaign.

Interesting news on the DS film. We saw Kathy Leigh Scott some years back at a Chiller Theater convention, and even longer ago at a few DS fests that we attended with some friends.

We road up in the elevator to our room with DS actress Lara (Angelique) Parker.

Ok, this is distressing news. Moonlight has been cancelled!!!! *cries*
This is what I`ve heard anyway on MySpace. How disgusting is that?
Apparently though, Sci Fi are interested but fans need to show them how
interested we are so they`re suggesting we email them and show our
support, if you feel like it :)

I heard that Bonnie is no longer in charge of skiffy and that there's some schmuck in her place wanting more "reality" based shows like ghost hunters and the like cause they're cheaper to produce. Have you heard anything about it Ray?

From Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonnie_Hammer

"Bonnie Hammer was President of the U.S. cable channel SCI FI since 2001 and has been the president of USA Network since 2004 (both networks are owned by NBC Universal). She joined USA as a programming executive in 1989 and has held a number of positions at both companies since then.

On Wednesday, January 16, 2008, Hammer stepped down as president of SCI FI. David Howe, who started his career as a BBC executive, and formerly SCI FI's General Manager, is the new president of the channel. In 2001, Howe started at SCI FI as executive vice president of marketing and brand strategy. He was promoted to General Manager in 2004. [1]

Hammer first established herself professionally in New York as a programming executive at Lifetime Television, where she oversaw production of an award-winning series of documentaries. She is generally considered to be a successful executive by the business world but is reviled by large segments of the science fiction fan community, who cite the fact that wrestling airs weekly [2] on a channel supposedly devoted to the science fiction genre and the channel, with its B-movies on Saturdays, ignores sci-fi classics in favor of programming that appeals to the lowest common denominator of the viewing public. She has never stated whether she is a fan of science fiction or not.

She is a 1971 graduate of Boston University College of Communication; she also earned a master's degree in Media Technology from the University's School of Education in 1975. She launched her career in television at WGBH, the public television station in Boston, where she produced the critically-acclaimed series This Old House and ZOOM. She later executive-produced Good Day! for Boston's ABC affiliate, WCVB.

Hammer is a published author and an accomplished photographer."

No entries, yet, for this particular David Howe, but the rumblings aren't particularly positive.

And, ooh... Bonnie's a photographer!

So is Bob Guccione. At least he knew what his audience wanted to see!

Get on the bandwagon NOW before Johnny Depp makes vampires COOL!

Are you aware that Johnny Depp is currently researching and studying
for an upcoming starring role in the Dark Shadows movie, playing
none other than vampire Barnabas Collins? Well he is...and anyone
who drops an established, well acted and written show featuring
vampires needs to have their head examined. I urge you to check into
this story, so you may validate what I am saying to you for the
truth of it. Please, please save Moonlight. It will not only garner
you millions of current fans, but the potential for millions more.

"Moonlight: If the Show Can Be Saved, Will O’Loughlin Want to Do It?

MoonlightLast week we reported that there was a possibility that the now-cancelled Moonlight series could find a new home on the CW. Though CBS dropped it, the show was being pitched to Media Rights Capitol, the company who recently purchased CW’s Sunday night airtime. Though MRC quickly passed on the series for fall, there was still a possibility that it could pop up midseason. Unfortunately, MRC has now passed on that opportunity as well. Happily for the fans, the show’s chances for survival may not be dead just yet.

Word is that Warner Bros. Television (the studio that produces the series) is still trying to find another home for the vampire drama. They’re approaching cable networks like TNT but Moonlight’s budget is prohibitive for most potential cable buyers. To help reduce the production costs, Warners is also looking into finding a new and cheaper shooting location. Warner shows like Smallville and Supernatural already film in Canada.

Part of the budget problems is one of the show’s greatest assets — Alex O’Loughlin. Because of the actor’s exposure on the series, he’s now in high demand and will likely end up being signed to another weekly series if Moonlight doesn’t survive. His agent, Nathan Morris, tells news.com.au, “He has got a whole raft of things to read through — a role like [Mick] has definitely opened plenty of doors. . . The key is to strike while the iron is hot. ”

It remains to be seen if O’Loughlin would be willing to take a paycut so that Moonlight could move to a smaller cable channel. It would also mean possibly passing on other mainstream projects that might further his career.

Though the actor clearly enjoys vampire role, the CBS series has been a veritable rollercoaster ride. After being told of the series’ cancellation, O’Loughlin described his exhaustion due to the show’s turbulent freshman year. He wrote, “From the very beginning when I was told time and again that I wasn’t the man for the job, having to prove myself to everyone with tests and screen tests, to a complete re-casting of the show, through 5 different show runners at the helm with 5 different artistic visions, to a Writer’s strike that took 5 episodes away from us? oh how the list goes on.”

Soonafter writing this, O’Loughlin and his girlfriend, Holly Vance (who guested as Lola on Moonlight), reportedly escaped L.A. for a two week vacation in Mexico.

Will a new home for the vampire series be found? Would the series’ male star still be on-board if that happens? Stay tuned! TV Series Finale home page"

Sounds like the fire hasn't gone out, yet!

This is a Blog from Denis McGrath, a writer who worked on Blood Ties, and why he believes it (and Moonlight) will not be back:

The Question and The Answer

I HEARD THIS week from a few fans of the show I worked on in Vancouver last year, BLOOD TIES, that they'd heard from Lifetime, the U.S. Broadcaster, that the show was not going to be picked up for a second season; that the reasoning was that it had not performed up to ratings expectations.

Which kind of closes an open secret door. It's been pretty clear that Lifetime wasn't going to pick up the show for the longest time now. Since I was just a hired hand, and it wasn't my show, I kept mum whenever anybody asked me about it because that's what you do.

But now that it's official, and coincidentally, because I got more than four emails this week asking essentially the same question in essentially the same way, now I'm gonna answer it.

The question I've been asked this week is: Do you think that BLOOD TIES is going to come back, that someone else will pick it up and more episodes will be made?

The answer is No. No I don't.

Because there's more than one Vampire show that's been shit-canned recently, I should also answer the email that I've gotten from a couple of Moonlight fans: Do you think that Moonlight has a chance to wind up somewhere else?

No. No I don't.

I put those two things together because I'm now leading into the larger point: I'm not the guy who owns either property, and the dude who's doing the negotiations, so I can't really say for sure. I don't know for sure. I'm not involved. Take that with any grain of salt that you want. (And I'll get back to this, too. Remember the salt.)

I would say that Moonlight probably had a better chance because it had been on CBS, but since they passed, and since the sets have been struck, and since the Jericho thing worked out so well, I'm gonna say full page ads or no full page ads, that show's probably toast. And if the network version's done, then the cable version's definitely done. (Again, all this is my-- you know what? Can we just take as read for the rest of this post that at the end of every paragraph, I'm silently mouthing that warning that appears on every DVD now about the opinions not necessarily reflecting the opinions of anybody other than the people making the statement, and not the corporation that owns the show? Can we just take that as read? Good, cause qualifying this shit is exhausting. )

I think it's a shame that Moonlight and Blood Ties are both toast. Because I think vampire stories are fun and I love'em and I think there should always be some sort of Vamp show on the air. (Although, seriously dudes, that whole can go out in the day thing is MONUMENTALLY fucking cheating. NOT cool. It makes the tragic scary vamps seem like my redheaded friends. And trust me, none of them are particularly scary. Okay. Maybe K-Mac. But still.)

Blood Ties is tragic for me because it was fun to work on, and I think it was a fun show, and a different take on the whole thing because no matter what the fangirl squee, the vamp was actually the sidekick. I think that was the genius part of the world that Tanya Huff created in her books and that Peter Mohan brought to TV. The central figure was the girl. That's a different spin.

There's a couple of other perplexing things about BT going down, and some bad timing things. The show was not helped by the fact that by the time we'd shot the only season (and it was not two seasons, that was just marketing) the originating Canadian Broadcaster who had started it rolling, CHUM, essentially ceased to exist when it was split in twain and sold off to two companies. The show kind of got lost in two differing agendas.

But -- and this is something that we all point out every time we who worked on it get together -- the show did good numbers in Canada -- better than the lead in and the lead out. Better than what was in the timeslot before it premiered, and better than what they put in there afterward. And it sold everywhere -- well. I'm told that the international sales guys were clamoring for a second season.

But that just goes to show you how hard it is to finance a TV show if you don't have one of those big six media corporations behind you. That's just how it is, I guess. I think they may even still be trying. And if they did somehow bring it back, I'd whoop de doo with everyone. Believe me.

Okay, I'm halfway through this thing now and I'm starting to lose my nerve, because I'm starting to get the spidey-sense pounding in my head that tells me that the batshit crazy fans are going to bombard me with all the weird hate-on messages. And the BT crew is fine, but Moonlight was a network show and ... some of you 'Murricans are a little crazy... but I'm almost to the salt. Be patient.

I think there's also a weird bias against genre stuff at channels these days. Scratch that. I know there is. It doesn't get respect. And neither does its fans. And that sucks. It does. I think the problem is so many of these shows reach the diehard geeks and people who like this kind of stuff, but it doesn't widen out. And that bigger audience is what they really want. And they're convinced that genre shows are too narrow. Nevermind that they're also the ones that have the ability to branch out and touch everyone if they truly hit. See Heroes, X-Files, Star Trek -- should I go on?

But when it doesn't hit that magic branch out, the genre fans feel burned. And they think that they shouldn't watch shows because they're just going to get canceled. And they don't realize that hey, that's true of like 7 out of 10 non-vampire or werewolf or space opera shows, too. Most shows fail. That's the reality.

I feel the need to validate all that fan love and support because, well, it starts early and it's just so passionate. I mean, there were BT fan sites up weeks before the show premiered. I'm sure there are Dollhouse sites popping up even now. That's awesome.

So to not acknowledge both the depth of feeling and the unlikeliness of success at this point, in all the "save the show" campaigns, just seems to me to be cruel. And the fans deserve better than that. Blood Ties fans, and Moonlight fans too. A lot of people will keep silent because they just don't want the grief of the crazier side of fandom. That side is indeed fearsome. But that's not enough of a reason to keep everybody hanging forever. So the only thing to do is to try and do the impossible and explain it a bit.

Now. Here's the salt part.

Part of the problem of the fan campaign, as I've said before, is that the internet makes it seem like there's so many of you that it makes it even harder to imagine how a show could be not popular enough to go on. What do you mean it's not popular! Look at all of us here!

It's at these times that I say, "I want you to imagine rolling coins." You know how there are 50 pennies in a roll? Well, you know how big a roll of pennies is, right? How much space it takes up? Got it? Good. Now, how easy would it be to store 100 rolls of pennies? That's 5000 pennies. That's gonna take up space, right? Probably a whole drawer. Okay, now say we're talking, oh, I don't know, 5 million viewers. That's a level of viewership that gets you totally canceled. How many rolls is that? Well, it's um...5000 is 100..uh...Holy cow.....can that be right? 100 000 rolls of pennies?

You're going to need more drawers. And a reinforced floor.

Do you honestly have that many posters, fans, on forums, posting regularly? I've never seen the forum where a thousand people post regularly. Ever? Maybe. Regularly? Nope. At that level it would become noise. That's an unmanageable number.

Oh, By the way. What they really want is American Idol numbers. And that's like, 25 million. 30 million. 4, 5, 6 times that. I can't even do that math. Because I'm a dumb bad-at-math writer.

Point is, it's not your fault. The shift to a focus on "save our show" campaigns sets up a dynamic where it's just easier to feel like you failed. It's not a failure if there was never a real hope of success to begin with. You can't help it if the show didn't catch on, and if what seems like a ridiculous number of fans to you STILL ISN'T ENOUGH.

Now....here's where the salt comes in. Because some of the people out there are licking it right now. How dare I? I mean, really, How FUCKING DARE I say that they won't succeed! How dare I say JPOD's not coming back! Or that the NUTS THING WITH JERICHO DIDN"T TOTALLY WERK WHO DO YOU THNK U R, ANYWAYS?????

I'm gonna get a lot of those emails. I know it. I'll take it. It's fine. Bring it on, baby. My back is strong.

I just feel bad to see people building up false hopes. And not moving on and remembering the thing you loved for what it was.

In the case of BT fans, and I've said this before -- you can at least go back to Tanya Huff's original books to see where the story goes. (It's pretty great.) And if you're feeling burned because you're a Moonlight fan and you were thinking, somebody's gotta pick up the show, right? And now here's this asshole in CANADA saying, "probably not going to happen. And oh yeah, DO NOT SEND BLOOD PRODUCTS TO CBS!" and maybe you're bummed.

Cheer up. Don't be bummed. TV and movies are cyclical and weird. You never know what happens down the road.

Judd Apatow was a guy who failed with two TV series -- Freaks & Geeks and Undeclared. F&G broke my heart when it was canceled. Now he's the biggest Director in Hollywood. Seth Rogen, who starred and wrote for Undeclared, is a freaking sex symbol, for heaven's sake. I loved those shows, but hey, maybe he was meant to make movies like 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up instead.

David Schwimmer was on some failed show the season before Friends. If that had gotten picked up, No Ross. Lisa Kudrow was originally cast in Frasier. She was fired and replaced by Peri Gilpin, and if that didn't happen, no Phoebe. I don't even want to think about what would have happened if Jennifer Aniston had kept her original nose.

A show that I loved that failed big in the 80's was this one season wonder called Almost Grown. It was this trippy show tracking a family in three time periods. Starred Eve Gordon and Tim Daly. The guy who wrote it was named David Chase. He'd go on to create The Sopranos.

My So Called Life -- a beloved show, canceled after 19 eps. Claire Danes is a star and Winnie Holzman went on to write the Broadway smash musical WICKED.

The point is, you just never know.

The people who made Blood Ties and Moonlight sure loved bringing them to you. And you never know, who knows what comes next. Maybe this is all for the best. Or maybe it's random.

Anyway, my point is, the people who make these shows are always humbled by the depths and the lengths fans will go to support them and not lose faith and not lose hope. And we'd hate to see failure and silence make you turn away from that. And sometimes, when you know it's not going to work, even if you know you're going to get crazy mail, you just gotta man up and say that. 99% chance it's not going to work, so you might want to think about the time you put into it. Just saying.

But if you say that, you also do the fucking disclaimer. Here it comes again: Yup, I'm not privy to everything. You want to grasp at straws, grasp away. GRASP AWAY!

But to the rest of you: don't stop loving what you love, and don't ever apologize for the shows you love. And know that people who make the stuff really, really do appreciate you. And don't write angry letters to Lifetime. They're a business and they made their decision for a reason. And don't bombard CBS with fake fangs. TV is expensive. You know how many pennies you have to roll to pay for it? A LOT.

Focus on the thing you loved, and let go. Cause I guarantee there's something else coming just around the corner. And the people who met and forged relationships on that show you loved? You never know what they're gonna cook up next.

Thanks for watching. Don't be discouraged. You're awesome. And one of these days another show you love will break through and be a hit, and then a couple seasons will pass, and you'll get to complain about it jumping the shark. I promise.

Oh, one more thing.

Please don't send me hate mail. I'm really quite a nice fellow.

A slew of new articles about the Johnny Depp Dark Shadows project:

Director and actor teaming up again...

The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory team of director Tim Burton, actor Johnny Depp, and screenwriter John August are now apparently working on a big screen version of he cult classic TV series Dark Shadows.

Burton will direct and produce, Depp will star, and August will write the script. Depp would play the lead role of vampire patriarch Barnabas Collins, played on the original 1966-71 series by Jonathan Frid and in a short-lived 1990s revival by Ben Cross.

IESB.net has learned, via an interview with director Peter Segal, that the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and "Corpse Bride" team of Tim Burton, John August and Johnny Depp are reuniting for Dark Shadows.

Burton will reportedly direct the Warner Bros. feature based on the '60s supernatural TV show from a script by August. Johnny Depp's Infinitum-Nihil and GK Films are producing and Depp has had interest in playing Barnabas Collins, the vampire patriarch of the series, but that hasn't been confirmed.

Over 1,225 episodes, "Dark Shadows" was a highly atmospheric, spooky soap that featured gothic horror staples like vampires, monsters, witches, werewolves, ghosts and zombies."

Here it comes!

They pre-cancel shows in the British Isles.

They call it a "limited miniseries."

This one runs six episodes.

No news lately on reviving Moonlight or Blood Ties? Have you heard anything at all Ray? I don't have news at all <sigh>

From my observations of media happenings, these shows are still dead, like Monty Python's famous parrot.

I am not a Depp fan, per se, but I was hoping he would fast track his option on Rex Mundi.

Nothing, yet. Blood Ties did raise the money for a Varietyonline.com ad (which I haven't seen, and may not be posted, yet), but there's nothing substantive on either show, so far.

At least Blood Ties is about to get into the Top 40 at TV Vote, in the Nominations (write in) Poll:

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote/nominations.html

...As of tomorrow, if it gets just a few more votes, today than yesterday, it will be in the Top 40 Poll, instead:

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote/index.html

ALL three links work for voting, so if you have trouble, you can try an alternate address instead.

Of course, I advocate a minimum of voting for Joss' shows (Firefly, Buffy, and Angel), as well, along with BSG, Babylon 5, and Dark Shadows (You can vote for more as many Top 40 shows as you like, once every hour. You can only nominate one show per hour).

There're a couple threads around these boards about the voting... Some guy posts 'em every gorram morning, like a nut.

Rex Mundi is a comic book which will probably remind many of DaVinchi Code.

Depp owns an option to movify it.

Rex Mundi is a quest for the Holy Grail told as a murder mystery. It is a tale of sin, murder and magic in an alternate-history Europe where magic is real and the Catholic Church never lost its grip on power.

Doctor Julien Saunière must uncover the secret of the Holy Grail before the world is drowned in blood!
An original comic book miniseries, Rex Mundi will be 36 issues long when finished. Currently, we’re on Issue 29 (Dark Horse Issue 11). Four collected volumes are available, with the fifth and sixth still to come!

They do have a vampire in it, too.

News on the Blood Ties front:

"Blood Ties Variety.com Ads To Begin on June 9th

Posted: 06 Jun 2008 11:03 PM CDT

Below is a copy of the official message that the hard working folks at the Variety.com Ad Campaign shared on several of the Blood Ties fan email lists and forums earlier this evening…

Greetings To All Blood Ties Fans

This is an official announcement on behalf of the Ad Committee.

WE are elated to be able to make this announcement to all “Blood Ties Fans”. We did it! The Ads will officially begin running on Variety.com for five consecutive days, with the launch beginning on June 9 and continuing through June 15.

The ads will be programmed to run intermittently in the following three sections of Variety: to appear on the home page, in the film section and additionally, in the awards section. While we realize that Blood Ties was a television production, we were advised that in order to reach TPTB in the biz…these were the best fit options for maximum exposure. In addition, this week was chosen primarily because it is an ideal week for the daytime Emmy’s. Our consultant considers this an ideal week for the ads to garner maximum attention, exposure and coverage for the business.

Please, remember the ads will be running online, they will not be stationery, they will be programmed to alternate either between one another, pop-up together, or to appear between the three pages together or apart of one another as listed above for viewing, so you may have to watch the screen(s) a bit for the appearance of one or both.

We will place the static page of the ads, as soon as, they are received from Variety for viewing. There will be a link provided to revert all inquiries directly back to: BloodTies.tv. We are also, including the link to the Variety site for your convenience: Variety.com. We additionally, increased the impressions to a reasonable maximum, thanks in part to the generous donations of the fans.

This has been a long and arduous endeavor, but it was also a labor of love. The total amount raised from the campaign for the ads came to: $4,500.00. The Variety ads were purchased at: $3,700.00. The remaining balance of $800.00 will be donated to the “Best Friends of Animals Society”, in honor of: Dylan, Kyle and Christina.

We are excited and sincerely hope, that everyone enjoys the Ads. Lets keep our fingers crossed that the Ads can work a “Bit of Magic” for the actors and the show. All of this could not have been accomplished without ALL THE DEDICATED AND DEVOTED BLOOD TIES FANS…remember “Blood Ties Fans” can still bite back!

Again, to all Blood Ties Fans “Thanks So Very Much for Your Support” of the Variety Ad campaign. We are extremely proud of the ads, we also, think you will enjoy seeing them run next week on Variety.com.

Sincerely,

Katieore, Ad Chairman
Kel, Co-Chairman

and the remaining Ad Committee"

The screener for True Blood has leaked to the 'net.

RaiderDave2112
Just seen the prerelease ep of True Blood, there were 3 scenes missing just a tile card saying what the scene is, due to the language it is obviously going to be on HBO or Showtime, aren't they the only channels to alow swearing (don't have a clue how swearing on TV works in the US), but the episode was interesting so I may just watch it when it comes around. I hope the show dosen't have the vampires being invisable in mirrors because in the show aleast 2 of them have been caught on camera.

The rest of the vampire lore is kept up, Only able to drink blood, no sunlight, and silver can hurt them.

The silver hurting vampires thing is a relatively new element to the mythos, borrowed from werewolf lore. It originally had to do with silver being "the moon's element," thus relating it to the lunar cycle of lycanthropy. Traditionally, vampires are usually said to be vulnerable to certain kinds of wood, such as hawthorn and mountain ash, but it's not as hip a weapon as silver. Of course, in Bram Stoker's seminal vampire work, Dracula, Count D actually buys it by having his throat cut with a steel knife, so, make of it what you want.

The nudity as well as the language.

It could perhaps be on any cable channel, but this is an HBO production.

True Blood is a synthetic substitute, which has allowed vampires to "come out of the coffin" and demand social rights and equality.

Vampire blood is a drug to mortals, who will hunt vampires and drain their blood in a bit of role reversal.
Raycheetah
Nifty concept!

Sound interesting. When is this show due to hit the airwaves? And is it only on HBO? <consideres the impact of added cost of premium channels on current household budget> sad.gif
