Agreed russy, I saw it yesterday and I loved it, we are going to see it again on Sunday. I love Michael Bay movies, there so loud and splashy and he has lots of shit blowing up! I'm a total guy when it comes shit blowing up.

russant
You are so right Brit, I was not impressed with Miami Vice though, but not because of shit blowing up. They just didn't have the whole package like Transformers did.

Miami Vice was Michael Mann. The derived series of films were Bay's Bad Boys and Bad Boys II from 1995 and 2003 respectively. I wonder if Michael Mann and Bay will team up for Miami Vice II?

So Dawn Hates Michael Bay and all Michael Bay fans...

and than we have reviews like this:

Even Dear Old Roger Erbert gave it a B... I'm not surprised he is often cluesless about cinema , I would be great on his TV show... I mean people would watch to see me mock his fat twinkie eating ass...

You are corrct about Miami Vice, I always get Bay and Mann confused as the same person.

Don't worry Michael Mann and Bay are sure to do a film together. Since this film is exactly the same as every other film Michael Bay has done in his career I cannot figure out how all of sudden all of the critics that mocked his films the Rock and Bad Boys or the Island are now falling over him like he's the the second coming of the Block Buster? I find it interesting really considered how after the Island Michael Bay was considered Persona Non Grata in Hollywood by many critics for wasting to major Film Stars in a Second Rate B movie with a ripped off plot.
russant
Personally I loved Bad Boys and thought the Island was pretty cool.

Many loved Bad Boys, but the Island took a beating in the box office and than in the courts when the producers and writers of Clonus sued Dreamworks and it appeared that Bay had actually put a fork in Dreamworks for good.... Not that Spielbergs two lack luster films in the Sci-Fi Genre with Cruise didn't help matters Minor Report and War Of the Worlds... They even attempted to sell studio after the Island Diaster it appeared that the only thing Bay would be directing in the future would be ads for Calvin Kline Products... However the curse seems to be lifted and the blockbuster is back in full swing. I hate to say this but much of the hype about Spielberg being attached is rather ironic he was attached to the failures of Minor Report , War of the Worlds and The Island so I'm really interested why the critics(I use that term loosely) seem to be so accepting of Transformers...

My brother says I should be a critic but he also says I might want to invest in two things before going into this line of work: Body Armor and Challenger MK I Tank... It might be good advice given my mouth...

Saw Transformers in Digital theater this weekend, and it ROCKED HARD!! It was totally more than I expected, even with Bay and co. Of course it's a summer action blockbuster, but it ws perhaps the best action film I've seen in many years. The CGI was practically seamless throughout, even the non-action scenes had humour and were interesting. It was a long movie, but def did not feel like it. Plus the babes... That fox is HOT and has her firm, tan tts half hanging out during most of the film.

I loved that they give you a little "intro action" at the start, just to get your juices flowing, and then start introducing the characters.

I talked with a few people this weekend who also saw it and the all LOVED it. I do recommend seeing it in digital if you can though. In fact, I really don't ever want to go to a regular theater anymore since I've been to a digital theater. It's fantastic for a moive like this though.

Transformers was good, but only as eye candy and for its simple plot. Typical government has alien in secret base in Neveda. Seemed a lot like ID4 except there was no area 51 in this one. For a summer Blockbuster it is good for what it was. I just don't see this one winning any Oscars, but than stanger things have happened. Diffently not one I will own when it comesout on DVD.One note I have to say I feel sorry for the little kids who went to the movie especting to get the cartoon, to instead get an action movie.

Can You Say "“Armageddon"... This movie has the same plot structure as every other Michael Bay film.

Michael Bay should really think of using this song in his next movie.... Sort of homage to his early success.

COme on guys, this movie may have had a simple plot like ID4 and Arm.. But it succeeded both in every other way. NO, it won't earn a real academy award, but for FX or maybe a few others it has a solid chance. Plus, even if the plotline is similar to other movies (lots of other movies) they did it well. It was funny, and they kept the movie moving along even between the fantastic action sequences. Stop being such film snobs for a few minutes and enjoy a little robotic destruction!

A guy at work called it classic, I nearly broke my foot I was carrying a 150lb Sewage pump at the time and I was in total shock that I nearly dropped the damn thing on my toe...
Homercidal
It was classic! Classic example of a summer blockbuster action film! But, IMHO, this was one of the best ever. Maybe it won't be classic like, say Terminator, but funny, sexy, and stuffed full of hardcore giant robot action! Fox is hot, even with the stupid tattoos. I could have done without the "kids who know more about everything than the government experts", but at least the blonde was also hot with an accent.

I know this: it is going to make alot of money; so, be prepared to see a few more Robot Action Movies appear in the future. Including Ronald D. Moore's script for "I, Robot II".
Homercidal
Seriously? The first one was just ok. Not what I really expected, but I don't see a sequel for that.

And, my bro-in-law says they are planning a Tranformers II. I don't know where he heard that from, or if it's even real.

Dude, they made a 155 plus million in the first 3 weeks a sequel was bound to happen. It has sequel potential written all over it. Time to recapture the magic...

I, Robot is well nothing like the short stories that actually create the basics of what Asimov felt was at the heart of the story. There was a script also written by Harlan J. Ellison but it was shelved due to complexity supposedly! My guess is that I, Robot II will look and feel like Mission Impossible II after all Ronald D. Moore was part of that story process too.

When our forms of expression are reduced to profit margines are we not just expressing the corporate ethos of more money, more profit and everything else is meaningless? Are we not becoming the Drains not Brains society that Rome was 2000 plus years ago? Is cinema not our own Colosseum where we can vicariously experience the struggle of life and death from the safety of our seats? Now we have the ability to tell ourselves that it isn't real it is an abstraction but doesn't this abstraction of violence into a complex series of interactions on the screen ultimate form something in the viewer? Are we not just like the Colosseum goer looking to see an execution performed as sport when we look to the cinema to satsify our own cultural violence.
Homercidal
If you say so.
Starbuck
im looking forward to seeing it homer went to go see the new HP flick first though. And it was amazing yay. I am very happy to hear though that Transformers is getting decent reviews for the kind of movie it is putting it on mymush see list even more then it was before.

I Haven't had any time to go, so I only saw the blurry torrent of the movie, and I enjoyed it.

A few things:

1. have you seen the scene at the end of the credits? (spoiler: You see Starscream fly away)

2. I wish they didn't have the cussin' and the "masterbation" scene. That will keep my nephew from seeing it. maybe I'll edit it and show him THAT one...I was going to show him the original movie, but in that one BUMBLEBEE cusses! LOL wink.gif

3. I'm a fan of T and A, but I wouldn't have minded if it wasn't in TF...

4. Optimus needs Bacon!!!!!

Britexpat
I may have already said this but I'll say it again, I loved this movie. I saw it twice already.

It was a typical bay movie, lots of slow motion, military action, slow shots with the sun behind and shit blowing up, my idea of heaven.

I'm sure they will make a sequel, this one was huge, and they could certainly do it story wise.
Starbuck
Iliked Bay's first two movies but have been extreemly disapointed in his last few I hope this one is as good as The Rock and the First Bad Boy's and by all acounts so far it has been.
Homercidal
I also was not fond of the master-baiter scene. The language was not too bad for my little girl. I would have taken her if not for the nasty jrkoff talk (LOL!) Well, she will be 8 soon, so we'll see. The movie was VERY good IMO otherwise, and MUCH better than I thought it would be. I say run, don't walk to see it in DIGITAL!
redline
Corny script, but I really wasn't expecting much. The CGI was amazing. That was the first time since I first saw Jurassic Park that my jaw hit the floor form the special effects.

Overall, it's everything anyone could ever want in a summer blockbuster movie IMO.
russant
I love the part where Optimus says My Bad.

Saw Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, today.

Turn off your brain, and you'll probably enjoy it. But don't pay too much attention to such interesting details as the door at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum (in Washington, DC) which opens out to a desert airplane graveyard, among other lesser gaffes.

If you will be taking small children, please be aware that, in this film, EVERYONE swears. Bots, mom, dad... Oh, and they resort to showing humping dogs TWICE, plus a leg-humping Decepticon, and make a "fun" joke out of mom blithely eating a brownie sold at a college bake-sale in packaging plainly marked with a marijuana leaf, then acting even more stupidly than she did to begin with. Our hero, Sam, has the good judgment and memory skills of a moldy turnip, at least where his relationship with and the safety of his girlfriend are concerned.

Lots of nifty fights, many obvious lifts from other movies (see if you can spot the Matrix rip-offs), and a meandering plot that could use about an hour's paring down. Two stars out of five (that's what you get when you insult my intelligence too often).

I won't say not to go see it, and it is probably best experienced on the big screen, but I won't need to see it again in my remaining lifetime. ='[.]'=

I am glad that Michael Bay is not slated to be helming the next the entry.

I did find one thing rather curious... In most movies, if they mention an off-screen president, they just say "the president." In this one, they first present the president (unnamed) as obstacular and pusillanimous, as represented by his presidential-order-waving lackey who wants to shut the good guys' operation down. Then, when things hit the fan, mention is made of "president Obama" being moved to an underground bunker, and his bureaucratic lackey arrives to shut down the fight, indicating that the president's focus is on negotiating with the Decepticons. The surrender of the protagonist to the malevolent alien robots is described as "on the table," or words to that effect.

I was surprised to see that in a Spielberg film. =0[.]o=

Heh... I like it.

Then again, they made no effort to disguise Bush II as the President in the first film.

I do intend to see it-- the cg effects are the point. I expected no story line, because the whole thing is a bloody marketing tool for toys. Toys.

No plot to toys-- but they do need to set up a reason for folks to "buy the whole collection"!!

The CG does explain a lot- cheaper way to make a film then actual acting and stars & such. Matrix was pushing one set of limits... I intend to do what I always do- enjoy the ride... then pick it apart... but I will enjoy the ride.

Then, aside from the unnecessarily crude language and blatant sexual innuendo in what amounts to a toy commercial, you should have no problems with this film. =^[.]^=
herbsinger42
That did seem weird... except I think the whole movie thing as a money maker is directed toward twenty-somethings remembering their child hood toy/cartoon and sending them back for the 'updated version' at the stores-- bigger, shinier, newer car designs... etc. Which also speaks to the leg humping dog-bots. I never watched the cartoon, myself, but my son did. I couldn't stomach it any more than Speed Racer- dreck.

So, yeah, I'll remember that, like Meet the Fockers... it is pitched at hormone drenched young men... and look for how they do the effects.
RaiderDave2112
I have to admit I enjoyed the movie, It was a Big Dumb Action movie like arnie etc used to do in the 80's, plenty of cgi, explosions and hot women after all that what's the point of a plot or anything resembling one?

Even for the "how'd they do that???" We watched Jurassic Park the other day.. and the 13 yr. old caught a set ooops... at the dig site, they move into a tiny little trailer- opening the door one way... transition to the interior, door opens the other way (and the trailer is 3 times the size of the one on the dig set...

It isn't rocket science, but you do need to be conscious.
