Joe Flanigan (John Sheppard from Stargate Atlantis) will play a charming, wealthy potential suspect in one of Pete and Myka’s investigations.

Tricia Helfer (Number Six from Battlestar Galactica) will play an FBI agent who finds herself at odds with Pete and Myka over control of an investigation.

Michael Hogan (Saul Tigh from Battlestar Galactica) will play Myka’s father.

Joe Morton (Henry Deacon from Eureka) will play a prisoner who also happens to be a religious extremist.

Other guest stars will include Mark Sheppard (Romo Lampkin from Battlestar Galactica), Erica Cerra (Jo Lupo from Eureka) and Niall Matter (Zane Donovan from Eureka).

No.
It seems to be inheriting more from X-Files.

It was described as 2 FBI agents working in a warehouse like the one in the final scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark, a government warehouse where weird shit gets packed away.

Maybe a fusion of X-Files and the Lost Room concept.

The promos give me the sense that it is forced to be a little too light-hearted for my tastes.

I want SyFy to deliver some hard science fiction rather than comedies for nerds once in a while.

LOL, good luck with that. Haven't you heard? Hard Core Sci-Fi programming doesn't meet their target demographics wants/needs. Its all being replaced by schlock.

Well... Chuck is fun... and has some hardish science...too limp?

Don't eat the cereal, Shan... Don't do it... just turn the bloody thing off... or plug in a DVD of your favorite... firefly, Babylon 5, or BSG.... Aliens... anything but e.coli in a bowl.

It is my understanding that SyFy does want to do another serious sci-fi series in the tradition of BSG.
It will be set in space, the pilot and series are in the planning stages, & it will be like (get this!) FIREFLY & FARSCAPE (which I thought was pretty funny at times myself).
If you can find the link Darth, it would be appreciated.
I nearly bust a gut reading the news as I thought they wanted to move away from series like this to more light-hearted fare like EUREKA, WAREHOUSE 13, and even ALIEN NATION (another revamped series with the comedic Sykes-Francisco relationship being further explored by Tim Minear).

Canceling Farscape. Which, by the way, I had nothing to do with. That was my first day at the job and all of a sudden it was, "Mark's cancelled Farscape." No, I didn't. I love Farscape!

The fans are loyal.

I love all that, and I'm one of those people, so I get it. I take ownership of all that stuff too. I think the difference with the brand is, there's a fear that they're not going to do the programming. I think as soon as people realize that because we now have a brand that is broader, and not as niche, it allows us to be a little more scifi-specific and it allows to put shows on...I think our big frustration with a show like Battlestar Galactica has been, it's a great show. Because it's on the science fiction channel it's kept people away, that we felt like would come in and love that show. So it's made us a little more hesitant about going too hard scifi. Because hard scifi on the scifi channel is almost like this double whammy. Now that we have a brand that is a little broader and we're embracing a lot of things we're already doing. I think it also gives us a lot of freedom to do more hard scifi.

The next thing that I really want to do is find the next great space opera it's been a long time. And we have Stargate, but that's really not that show. And Caprica isn't really that show. So where's the next Star Trek or Farscape? Let's find one of those.

So what are you looking at to replace the channel's missing space opera?

You know it's so early days, I don't have anything really specific. We're talking to a lot of people that we already work with, about ideas. We don't want to do something that is the same old. You don't want it to feel recycled. So that's the challenge of doing that. I'm a huge fan of Firefly, and shows that take that idea and take that part of the genre and reinvent it in a whole new way. I'd love to find our version of, not specifically Firefly, but similar to what Joss [Whedon] tried to do with that in terms of, "lets recast the Western in space." Love that idea, and I love that show. What's another way to approach that? We're talking to a number of people about that, but at this point honestly it's about getting Warehouse 13 on its feet, getting Caprica on its feet, getting Stargate Universe going. This is a really big time for us, we haven't really had time to think about next year.

Love this quote. I guess I should expect nothing less. These people managed to convince themselves that BSG was a great show. Why wouldn't they think that the rebranding would bring miracles too?

I really liked it for a long while, though it ended poorly, and the fanbase changed dramatically over its run.

Even at that, I don't "really like" W13, even though I want all of SyFy's shows to be good.

Hell, I wanted Painkiller Jane to be good, because it was based on some good comics.

But the same brush stroke of badness splatters all of these shows that seem to be aiming at an audience other than me.

If I had started watching in the first season, maybe I might have thought it was great at some point too. I didn't start watching until season 2 after reading the critical reviews, and by the time that I finally got some of the story and the characters straight, the show rolled into season 2.5 and started declining. By the time I got around to watching season 1, Season 3 had started. Once I saw the Shelley Godfrey disappearance, I was starting to get the idea that there was no "plan" and the mystery was not going to be some great revelation, but something half-assed made up on the fly.

Why do you want all of Siffy's shows to be good? Personally, I'd like to see the executives of this channel get the boot.

I do not think there is a strong connection between executives with a clue and great programming.

Thus, I don't care if those guys get fired or not.
Though they might make excellent Torgo's Executive Powder.

Well- I am hoping too that SyFy comes around to more serious sci-fi shows.
And if CAPRICA & ALIEN NATION are any indication of a change in trend from the light-hearted fare, I am all for it!
Not too sure about STARGATE UNIVERSE, but the promos look pretty intense as well.
I would personally like to see FIREFLY continue on SyFy, and if they cannot get all the actors due to other series' commitments, perhaps they can do miniseries events like the recent TORCHWOOD.

I watched about 30 mins of this series, complete rubbish they may as well have had sign posts with the upcoming plot they were that subtle, terrible.

I thought the second episode, "Resonance," was far better than the pilot.
That's what's been happening lately with these series. The opener to FLASH GORDON really sucked (in my opinion), but the episodes after the pilot got progressively better!
