Last episode of the series this Saturday, and it looks pretty good.
Spoliers, highlight to read. The team have to stop Helen Cutter from stopping the evolution of Mankind in Africa, which means a chase through various times for the team as they try to stop her, they have a bit of a disadvantage though as Helen has a machine which can track where all the anomalies are and can open them. -------------------- Female Cenobite: "Didn't open the box." And what was it last time, "Didn't know what the box was?" And yet, we do keep finding each other, don't we?
Pinhead: Oh, Kirsty. So eager to play, so reluctant to admit it. Female Cenobite: Perhaps you're teasing us. Are you teasing us? Pinhead: Two minutes. Two centuries. It all ticks by so quickly. You are so very like your ancestors, did you know that? I have the distinct sense of déjà vu. The same defiance, the same faithless hope in the light? Dr Paul Merchant: And what do you have faith in? Pinhead: Nothing. I am SO exquisitely empty. |

I was just thinking... an American version of this show would be a bad idea. And something tells me there's one in development.

I think they moved the finale to next Saturday.
Also, it is possible that he American version would be a "spin off" and not a remake, which might not suck as badly. The idea of other governments engaging in "anomaly research" makes sense. -------------------- ![]() "Science is one cold hearted bitch with a 14 inch strap-on." |

An American version isn't going to have that luxury... and that's going to lead to massive problems. Does anybody really want the Caprica version of Primeval? -------------------- I'd rather be a Commodore than the lower half of a Rear Admiral any day.

That has always been a problem for UK shows, then again most of our shows are better written than US ones and they are prepared to go further with a storyline than US shows do ie Life On Mars The UK version ends with the lead putting himself back into a coma / or commiting sucide to go back to the past, In the US version they have him stuck in a VR machine. -------------------- Female Cenobite: "Didn't open the box." eh? British TV is no better than American TV. And their shows definitely don't "push storylines farther" since, with shorter seasons, they don't have to. The BBC is more free to address things in a more mature way than American network TV is, yes, and the point about the two versions of Life on Mars is relevant, but American non-network TV can and does do the same. Primeval, using the on-topic example, would've been canceled in America by now, because it's just not good enough. -------------------- I'd rather be a Commodore than the lower half of a Rear Admiral any day.

I think I've figured it out... the writers of Primeval suck at dialogue.
The ending of tonight's episode was pretty good... except for Connor's line. Ugh. -------------------- I'd rather be a Commodore than the lower half of a Rear Admiral any day.

Well I've seen the last episode and it looks like the series will now be going in a new direction.

Well I've seen the last episode and it looks like the series will now be going in a new direction. Are they even going to try for a fourth series? -------------------- I'd rather be a Commodore than the lower half of a Rear Admiral any day.

How can they not?
Even when the economic crisis was causing a budget hit, the ITV folk were looking for Hollywood $ to make a fourth season. -------------------- ![]() "Science is one cold hearted bitch with a 14 inch strap-on." |

I suppose... the show's just starting to seem a little aimless, that's all. -------------------- I'd rather be a Commodore than the lower half of a Rear Admiral any day.

I suppose... the show's just starting to seem a little aimless, that's all. That's to lull you into a false sense of complancy. A bit of a spoiler Three team members are stuck in different times after they go after Helen, which I'm willing to admit how they managed to follow her was complete crap, but apart from that it was a good episode. I will give you the total breakbown of what happened below Another Spoiler if you really want to know what happens to whom. The Danny Quinn character is stuck about 4 million years ago after Helen was killed after trying to kill the first humaniod's (the raptor that tracked Quinn attacked her and they both fell). Conner and Abbie are stuck about 70 million years ago as when they were following Helen they interupted 3 young raptors and conner twisted his ankle and Abbie was going to stay with him because he most likely wouldn't last. Becker and Sarah are waiting in the present for the team to return. Where Helen got all of her stuff from was from a future version of the ARC. -------------------- Female Cenobite: "Didn't open the box." And what was it last time, "Didn't know what the box was?" And yet, we do keep finding each other, don't we?

Hmm... despite liking the G-Rex episode (for the most part), I feel strangely compelled to write the following:
Primeval: the BSG of British television. -------------------- I'd rather be a Commodore than the lower half of a Rear Admiral any day.

I hope that there is a fourth season as I do like the series.

No grand sermons about how the writing 'really holds a mirror up to us" or any crap like taht which causes it to be so harshly judged. Not what I was referring to... I don't mind the light adventure (quite like it, actually), but the writing is inconsistent and it follows much of the BSG style of obviating previous stories. That gets annoying. -------------------- I'd rather be a Commodore than the lower half of a Rear Admiral any day.
