Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the greatest genre (scifi, fantasy, superhero, etc) series ever made...there I said it

Watched it from the start, gave me faith that TV could do genre without falling into cheese

I came late, myself... finding Buffy only after Angel.

I have an issue with perky blondes... sorry.
After Angel, tho, I went back... Wow! Joss is my God.
The guy is a bloody genious.

However, going back and reviewing Veronica Mars... I'm re-discovering the tiny girl as powerful!!
I liked 'em when I saw 'em, but the timing must have been wrong . ... I saw a lot I have no recolection
of whatsoever. Great fun!! no sleep, but great fun!

Yeah... The missus has the complete collection, and, AP has made it quite clear how deprived I am for not having watched B:tVS of Angel (aside from snatches of a few eps on TV). So, eventually, I'll start to watch 'em.

That's a LOT of viewage, though. Kinda daunting.

Well you love Dark Shadows and love Firefly...
What do get when you cross Dark Shadows with Firefly? Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel
These series were made for you Ray
And it is better to have 254 hours to go through than being heartbroken (damn you forever FOX) after only 15

BTW for those who don't have the DVDs Hulu.com now has the first 2 seasons up

Totally love both Buffy and Angel and Firefly - other than the great Battlestar Galatica, there has been nothing in this genre that even comes close to the splendid work on these four series.

checking out all the BSG re-runs till Friday night and Waiting, with all my highest <GuessHellFrozovertoo> hopes, for a great Dollhouse

Love Buffy and Angel but Farscape is still the best thing out there. Although Joss is a god. No question about that.

I have only heard a few things about Farscape...
Jeez. Another series???
I love Veronica Mars.... I was surprised how well written they were. Excellent bad guys... delightful twists... and a powerful woman character...HOoray!!

If that's your criterion for a great series you would love Farscape. Seasons 1-3 are available on itunes now.

I do think Farscape is one of the better scifi shows, but no episode of Farscape ever blew me away like Buffy episodes such Becoming part2, Hush, Restless, The Body, The Gift, Once More With Feeling, etc.

I love the cast of characters of Farscape but something about the overall plot and the setting never really worked for me...the Peacekeepers and Scarrans I never found all that compelling or nuanced (the Scarrans just seemed like they wandered off a bad 80s fantasy movie) and a lot of episodes seemed like Star Trek the Next Generation scripts rewritten by really stoned guys

A good show that never impressed me as great....but if anybody hasn't seen it they should, well worth watching (just see Buffy and Angel if you haven't already first! lol)

Damn, AP... You actually captured exactly my impressions of Farscape! Not bad, just, uneven, and, a bit weird at times.

Not to argue, lol, but the chemistry between John and Aeryn I've not seen repeated anywhere. It may be my age as Buffy was a little young for me and Farscape's character's were older. It was, however, a very wild and weird ride. I loved it.

I agree that Chrichton and Aeryn was an epic level relationship, one of the most compelling "ships" in all of TV, but I'd argue Buffy/Angel, Buffy/Spike, and Willow/Tara were at a similar level of greatness

Ok... maybe I'll borrow it, rather than buy it... then see if I really want it in my library.

BtVS is my number two alltime favorite series. (The first being M*A*S*H*).

Great mix of comedy, drama, and action. Great characters. (My fave is Willow, because I love hot redheads.)

I bought season one, and was hooked! After that, I bought the other six seasons, and burned through them all within 24 hours of buying each one. Yeah, I'd marathoned it too. :)

I have the entire series of M*A*S*H*, Buffy, and 24 (to this point). I have other series on DVD, their collections not quite so complete.

Great to meet fellow Buffy fans.

Did you know Joss is publishing additional "seasons" in comic book form?

They are, by all accounts, official Buffyverse canon, from the man, himself.

That's how we're getting more of the Firefly 'Verse, too.

Thanks, Raycheetah. :)

Yeah, I have a couple of issues of the season 8 comic book. Pretty good stuff. I think I might have also downloaded the season 8 comics...so I may have a good chunk of that set.

Believe me, I will be posting some thoughts about the Buffyverse. It is one of the few shows that rocked me emotionally like a roller coaster.

Respectfully,
Martok2112
