The "government conspiracy" angle is a step up.

I can't say I'm a fan of this double standard where it's portrayed as being "ok" for a woman to slap (let alone punch) a man but not the other way around. I think it is just as wrong for a woman to do this as a man and I don't like movies or tv constantly showing this as acceptable behaviour from a woman.

I'm starting to understand how it is that her parents got blown up in a car though.

I'm unclear though about this idea of conspiracy, conspiracy is about having a secret plan or plot to comit a crime.
Governments keeping certain actions or decisions from the public I'd think is pretty common and in some cases logical but hardly constitutes a conspiracy.

When the Canadian government was involved in rescuing a group of 6 US embasy members in Iran back in 1980 the government couldn't very well blab what they were up to.

Then again I could ask why it is that the US government has taken over an Canadian International port up the coast from me on Canadian soil and yet there is no word of this in the news or issued by my government.

I finally got around to watching it.

It has improved as the series has gone on.

I can't find out how many episodes are going to be made, is it like LoM with the tiny 8 episode season or will it be a larger Season (I HOPE)

8 episodes is all. A Second Series is almost certain. Latest episode continues the trend it just gets better, I was upset that Alex has relapsed into psycho babble and isn't going with the flow anymore. It was still superb.

Just 8 eps this season.

Looks like S2 is a go with an option for S3 though.

Pre-air media critic reviews of the final S1 episode seem positive.

Philip Glenister plays DCI Gene Hunt, as he did in Life on Mars. He says there is more to look forward to.

He said: "We'll start shooting a second series sometime in August. They've got an option for up to a third series.

"But you tend to get an instinct about when something should finish. And I certainly wouldn't want to drag it on and on.

"The character's too good for that. I care about the character too much."

So A2A and Torchwood end just as the next DW season ramps up, for what should be a 13 week run.

It was a totally cool ending.

A2A redeemed itself, getting better as the season went along.

I would love to see a third spin-off series that deals with Shaz's "constructs" while she is recovering from her wound.

And for no good reason, here is a picture of Montserrat Lombard in another role:

Crap, she was in Hyperdrive.

In the Name of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, is nothing sacred, why do they need to remake a excellent show like Life On Mars?

From the clip it looks like the producers of the remake aren't going to keep the viewers guessing about what is going on, taking one of the strengths of the orignal and getting rid of it, wonder what else the have gotten rid off

Pinhead: Oh, Kirsty. So eager to play, so reluctant to admit it.
Female Cenobite: Perhaps you're teasing us. Are you teasing us?

Pinhead: Two minutes. Two centuries. It all ticks by so quickly. You are so very like your ancestors, did you know that? I have the distinct sense of déjà vu. The same defiance, the same faithless hope in the light?
Dr Paul Merchant: And what do you have faith in?
Pinhead: Nothing. I am SO exquisitely empty.

Bad news for the remake is good news for fans.

Word is that ABC is panicking, and taling of replacing everyone except lead actor.

Much like Bionic Woman last year, the wheels are coming off of the cart.

Remaking British show's has been going on ever since I can remember. I would guess it's all about money, cashing in on a good thing. They did it most recently with The Office.
The first one I recall was "Man about the house" a British Comedy that became known here as "Three's Company"
I LOVED Man About the House but after you had seen it it was impossible to like Three's Company.

Man About the House was a British sitcom starring Richard O'Sullivan, Paula Wilcox and Sally Thomsett that was broadcast for six series on ITV from 1973 to 1976. It was made by Thames Television, and two spin-offs were later made: George and Mildred and Robin's Nest. In 2004, it came 69th in Britain's Best Sitcom. The series was remade in the United States as Three's Company in 1977.

The thing about remaking Life on Mars is that the entire series is only 16 episodes long, 2 series of 8 episodes each, which is usually about the length of a British serial, for the US market they are probably going to have to make more episodes per season, which means that unless the writers are very good or they are the orignal team, then it will most likely suffer quality wise.

Just seeing the pilot trailer, and how they just lifted the script tells us there is no hope for the US version being any good.

All in the Family is a knock off of Til Death Do Us Part, and so on.

There is nothing wrong with a show being derivative, but this is a perverse extreme.
Just show the original version!

Well I have just seen the first episode of the US version of life on mars and it was crap compared to the orignal. The US version was more in your face leaving nothing for the viewer, and the acting was like the cast were sleepwalking through their scenes, the plot was basicly the same with one or two differences due to different policing methods in the US and UK.

The episode came off as Bleegh, all in all not a good start hopefully it won't last long and they will have to show the orignal.

I hate this remake, but I think it will have legs in the US.

The lead male looked like he came from the Katee Sackhoff School of Acting.

The woman playing Annie was competent and photogenic, but had none of the 70s innocence the role required.

No real replacement for Chris Skelton means not so much heart and comic relief.

My wish is that the series bombs and they are The Middleman in its place!
